Kallie Boxell works in recruitment and team development. Based in Weatherford, Texas, she supports hiring across major cities like Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

She is the Director of Permanent Recruitment at Adecco. Her background includes roles in tech, healthcare, and industrial staffing. Each experience has helped her connect people with new job opportunities.

We interviewed Kallie to learn more about her career path, her approach to leadership, and the lessons she’s learned along the way.

Can you tell us about your background and what inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

My career in recruitment started by chance. But I quickly found that I enjoyed it. I’ve always liked helping people reach their goals, and this job lets me do that every day.

I began at Robert Half, placing IT professionals in roles that matched their skills. That helped me learn both the technical side of hiring and how to work with people. Later, I moved into healthcare recruitment. Then I took on roles in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries.

Each step showed me how much I enjoy connecting people with the right opportunities.

What was the pivotal “aha” moment that defined your leadership or business approach?

When I became Search Manager at Adecco, I started with a team of four. I quickly saw that success wasn’t just about filling roles. It was about creating trust and working as a team.

In less than a year, we doubled our team and our results. That didn’t happen just because of a plan. It happened because I supported the team, listened, and gave them room to grow.

That was the moment it clicked—real leadership means helping others succeed so the whole team can move forward together.

What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them to achieve success?

The hiring world changes quickly, especially when the economy is uncertain. One challenge has been keeping up momentum and staying connected with clients during slow periods. I’ve learned that being transparent—with both clients and my team—makes a big difference. When things get tough, I focus on clear communication and staying flexible. That might mean shifting our search strategy or looking at new industries. Either way, keeping a long-term mindset has helped us keep growing, even when things aren’t easy.

How has your leadership or innovation made a significant impact on your industry or community?

At Adecco, I focus on making our processes better and supporting my team. Recruitment isn’t just about filling roles—it’s about helping businesses grow the right way. We’ve added tools that make it easier to match the right people to the right jobs. We’ve also added training so our consultants can better support their clients.

Outside of work, I volunteer in the Dallas area. I enjoy mentoring and helping at community events. It’s important to give back and help others grow.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or leaders looking to make their mark in your industry?

Don’t be afraid to start small. Learn as you go. In recruitment—and really any business—relationships matter most. I’ve found that listening more than you talk makes a big difference. Stay consistent. Keep sharpening your skills. And always focus on helping others grow. The strength of your team will shape your success as an entrepreneur.

Can you highlight a specific project or initiative you’ve led that showcases your innovation and leadership?

One of the projects I’m most proud of was leading a regional initiative to streamline our recruiting process across Texas. We noticed some gaps in our outreach and candidate engagement, so I teamed up with my group to roll out targeted marketing and automation tools. That helped us improve our time-to-fill and bring in stronger candidates. It also helped us earn new business and strengthen relationships with our current clients. On top of that, it gave my team more clarity and confidence in their work. I’m also excited to be sharing more about this and other insights on the Smart Hire Podcast.
